WELCOME MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT OF EFIC®
Dear Friends and Colleagues,
10th Congress of the European Pain Federation EFIC®
(EFIC 2017: “Bringing Pain Relief To All Patients”).
I am proud to announce the 10th Congress of the European Pain Federation EFIC®. This will be held in Copenhagen, Denmark from 6th to 9th September 2017. This Congress follows on from a series of successful meetings throughout Europe over the last 22 years; however, this year we are planning major changes in both form and content.
On behalf of EFIC, it gives me great pleasure to invite you to participate in this innovative and informative event that we are sure will once again be the leading pain Congress in Europe. EFIC was formed in 1993, and has grown in size and scope over the last 21 years. It has become established as the European voice of all those who study and treat pain. We have developed into Europe´s most important multi-disciplinary and multi-professional organization in the field of pain medicine, representing 37 constituent National Pain Societies with over 20,000 scientists, physicians, nurses, psychologists, physiotherapists and other healthcare professionals.
During the Congress we will explore the scientific application of clinical pain management, looking ahead and highlighting how best we can apply pain treatment in the future. We have an excellent, broad-based Scientific Programme Committee, Chaired by Thomas Toelle. The SPC is working on an attractive and ambitious programme, which will cover all the different multi-disciplinary aspects of research and medical practice in our field. Refresher Courses, Plenary Lectures, Topical Seminars, workshops and daily poster presentations will both encourage interaction and inspire exchange between participants.
A comprehensive Industrial Exhibition, and sponsored Satellite Symposia, will perfectly complement the scientific content. The spacious Bella Sky Congress Center will provide ample room for all Congress activities.
We have extended the Congress by an extra day to allow additional lectures, symposia and special formats to make our Congress even more attractive to our members and participants. To allow cover of the many diverse interests of our participants and the needs of our patients (according to our theme), we will have streams of topics that run in the same halls throughout the Congress. These will include acute pain, cancer and pain in cancer survivors, as well as treatments, basic science, transitional pain medicine and a parallel Refresher Course to prepare for examination for the coming EFIC "European Pain Federation Diploma in Pain Medicine". Additional topics will be defined by the SPC.
In addition we are planning to provide some modern and advanced formats in order to attract the younger generation and to see whether this can further increase the interest and attendance at our meetings.
On behalf of EFIC, I would like to encourage you to join us at this outstanding Pain Congress in 2017.I look forward to welcoming you to the beautiful city of Copenhagen, and to what we know will be a very successful meeting.
With kind regards,
President, European Pain Federation EFIC®
